Arsene Wenger has revealed the latest regarding the fitness of key midfielder Mesut Ozil ahead of the clash with AC Milan on Thursday evening.
The Germany international had been the subject of criticism in recent weeks after failing to replicate his impressive form from earlier in the season.
Ozil, who decided to extend his contract at the club during the January transfer window, has been featuring in the knock-out stages of the Europa League for Arsenal thus far.
The former Real Madrid star was in action at the San Siro last week but during the clash with Watford on Sunday, he suffered an injury scare as the team went on to win 3-0.
Following the victory over the Hornets though, Wenger has revealed some positive news on the fitness of the 29-year-old star.
According to the Gunners boss, Ozil does not appear to be in a worrying condition ahead of the second leg against Milan, despite the ankle problem he sustained.
“It [on Mesut Ozil’s ankle] looks alright.” the Arsenal manager said during his post-match press conference
Wenger did go on to reveal that his main concern was rather about the injury suffered by Shkodran Mustafi.
“We have one problem and that’s Mustafi, who had to come off.” he added
