Arsene Wenger has confirmed that one of his key stars has returned from international duty with an injury which will keep him out of this weekend’s clash with Tottenham Hotspur.
The Arsenal manager will be hoping his side returns to winning ways on Saturday after watching them lose 3-1 away to Manchester City in their last outing.
Wenger went into that game at the Etihad with a depleted defense which saw Francis Coquelin play at centre-back.
And ahead of the meeting with Tottenham, the Arsenal boss has confirmed he will now be short of options in attack with Olivier Giroud sidelined.
The French striker picked up a thigh injury while on duty with his country last week and as a result, he will not be available for selection.
“Olivier picked up an injury, and I don’t think he will be available for Saturday.” the Arsenal manager said
“It is short term and he should start [training] on Monday, we will have to assess him then but I don’t think he will be available this weekend.”
