Arsene Wenger has revealed part of his plans for the starting line-up which will face West Ham this weekend.
The Gunners will be looking to continue their unbeaten run in the Premier League after suffering their first defeat in all competitions since August as Southampton won 2-0 at the Emirates stadium on Wednesday.
Arsenal are once again troubled by injuries ahead of the match against Slaven Billic’s side with the likes of Santi Cazorla, Hector Bellerin, Olivier Giroud, Danny Welbeck, Per Mertesacker and Chuba Akpom all sidelined.
The absence of Bellerin in particular will require Wenger to make a big call especially after the unconvincing performances of Carl Jenkinson.
Therefore, the Arsenal manager insists he is likely to start Gabriel at right-back as long as the defender’s mood is right following the tragic news about Brazilian club Chapecoense.
“I think he will [be able to play]. I will have a chat with him today.” Wenger said in his pre-match press-conference
“If he is in the right frame of mind, he will play. He sent a very emotional message to the families of people involved in this crash, but he still played on Wednesday night and I think if he has recovered well physically and mentally I will play him.”
