Arsene Wenger has responded to reports of an expensive deal to keep his squad at full strength this summer.

The Arsenal manager has been charged with the task of keeping key forward Alexis Sanchez at the Emirates stadium after an impressive season.

However, the 28-year-old has only a year remaining on his contract with an extension yet to be signed.

According to reports from Thursday, Arsenal have managed to offer Sanchez, who has scored 22 goals this season, a new deal worth £300,000 per-week in wages.

But Arsene Wenger refused to confirm whether there is any truth in those claims.

“First of all, I cannot confirm that we have offered that.” the Arsenal boss said

“Secondly, we will do as always, you know, we have to consider our financial potential to sustain the wages for the whole squad.”
