Arsene Wenger has responded to suggestions that Danny Welbeck should be included in the Arsenal squad which faces Crystal Palace this weekend.
The Gunners are set to welcome Sam Allardyce’s men to the Emirates stadium with their title hopes still looking slim due to Chelsea’s relentless winning streak and recent slip-ups at Everton and Manchester City.
Injuries to key players have been a problem for Arsenal yet again this season, but Wenger has been handed some good news on that front in recent weeks with the return to fitness of Danny Welbeck who had been sidelined by a knee injury for more than half a year.
But according to the Arsenal manager, the 26-year-old might not be involved in this weekend’s fixture despite being in “sharp” condition.
“He’s fit, he’s sharp,” Wenger said at his pre-match press conference on Friday morning.
“Will I involve him in the short-term or not, or will I play him first in a game with the under-23s? I have not decided yet, but in training he looks quite good.”
