Arsene Wenger has picked out what aspect of Alex Iwobi’s game needs to improve after Arsenal’s victory over Reading on Tuesday night.

The Gunners extended their unbeaten run in all competitions to 13 games after making light-work of the clash with Jaap Stam’s side courtesy of two goals from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

It was a night which saw a majority of Arsenal’s promising youngsters feature as they secured a place in the quarter-finals of the League Cup.

One of the boys in action was Alex Iwobi, who has become an integral part of the first team over the past nine months.

Wenger has often expressed his appreciation of the Nigerian youngster’s potential but the Arsenal boss feels Iwobi is lacking a goal-scoring touch.

“You see, he is not a typical winger and I think he can play in that role. He turns the game forward, he passes the ball through the lines very well. He has a final ball in him.” Wenger said

“He is now a little bit, I think he has it all in the locker to pass and give the final ball. What you want from him now is the finishing, you know.

“That’s still a little part that is missing in his game. I think he is too nervous at the moment when he has the possibility to finish.”
