Arsene Wenger has heaped praise on Lucas Perez for his performance against Nottingham Forest but the Arsenal boss managed to pick out one of the new star’s minor flaws as well.
The Gunners had another away game to enjoy on Tuesday night after following up the 4-1 win against Hull City over the weekend with a 4-0 thrashing of the second division side.
New signing Lucas Perez was equally delighted with the League Cup outing which saw him score his first two goals for his new club.
However, Wenger believes the Spaniard, who is yet another left-footed addition to his squad, will have to improve on his ability to use his weaker foot as a goalscorer.
“He did well. He’s quick, he’s determined. He uses well his left foot — a bit too much in my taste. He doesn’t use his right enough. Overall he’s like all the left-footed players, you know.” Wenger said at his post-match press conference.
With an important clash against Chelsea now ahead, the Arsenal manager admitted he was relieved to see Perez open his account for the Gunners before the pressure begins to pile up.
“You know how important confidence is for the strikers, and they get their confidence from scoring goals. He worked hard and he got two goals. I liked the second one.” he added
