Wenger’s response when asked about new one-year contract offer from Kroenke
Arsene Wenger has moved to play down reports which have suggested that he is set to sign a new one-year contract.
The Arsenal manager has faced severe scrutiny following his side’s failure to challenge for the Premier League title this season.
Despite a high demand for Wenger to be relieved of his duties this summer, recent rumours have claimed that he has been offered a contract extension by Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke.
However, when asked about the new deal, Wenger stated that there is no truth in those reports.
“There is no information about that. Nothing.” the Gunners boss said in his post-match interview
There was a new plane banner on Saturday, calling for the Frenchman to leave the club, but Wenger insists he is unmoved my such protests.
“I want to focus on football. All the rest is less important for me,” he added
“I’m not in politics, I’m in sport. I love sport, I give 24 hours a day for what I love.
“I’m also in a public job where some people agree with me and some people don’t. I have no special opinion on that.”
