Arsene Wenger has revealed why he has decided to begin his transfer business this summer with the signing of a new full-back.
The Arsenal manager witnessed his side collapse in the second half of last season as they went from title challengers to finishing outside the Premier League’s top four.
Thus, Wenger’s first attempt to address the squad’s shortcomings has been to secure the signing of former Schalke star Sead Kolasinac on a free transfer.
The shrewd deal has been lauded by many and the Gunners boss has revealed the qualities which convinced him to sign the 23-year-old.
“He’s very compact as a player, very strong and determined in the challenges,” Wenger said
“He’s good in the air as well, so overall I believe he has all the attributes to adapt to English football
“The game here is very demanding physically on the commitment front and he has the ingredients to adapt to that.
“What he will give us is the fact that he’s a player who can give assists, who can go forward, who can contribute good crosses.”
