Arsene Wenger has questioned his team’s defensive efforts in the build-up to Manchester City’s second goal on Sunday.
The Gunners ended their run of defeats in the Premier League by snatching a point, courtesy of a header from Shkodran Mustafi in the second-half.
It was a result which failed to lift Arsenal up from sixth place but recent losses to Liverpool and West Bromwich Albion meant a draw was a notable improvement.
Even so, there was more to rue about the quality of Arsenal’s performance this weekend as Mesut Ozil’s misplaced pass handed possession to Pep Guardiola’s side who went on to score their second goal through Sergio Aguero.
According to Arsene Wenger, that moment of sluggishness, particularly from Ozil, was not easy to watch.
“We went always forward and exposed ourselves,’” the Arsenal manager said in his post-match interview
“I felt we had a good defensive performance, apart from especially the second goal. The second goal we lacked a bit of focus.”
