Arsene Wenger has revealed that Olivier Giroud is still struggling to be fully fit after returning from international duty with France.
The 29-year-old finished as Arsenal’s top scorer last season before impressing many at Euro 2016 during the summer as France reached the final of the tournament.
However, the striker appears to have fallen behind Alexis Sanchez in the pecking order so far this season.
Giroud is yet to start a game for Arsenal this term and that will not change on Tuesday as the Gunners face a trip to Nottingham Forest in League Cup.
According to Wenger, the French striker, who was excluded from the squad which traveled to Hull City on Saturday, will not be available once again in Arsenal’s next fixture.
“Everyone came out of the Hull game well. Giroud is still not available – we will see at the end of the week if he can join in [ahead of the Chelsea match].” Wenger said on Monday
Giroud’s last appearance for the Gunners saw him sent off after receiving two yellow cards as a substitute in the 1-1 draw at Paris Saint-Germain.
