Arsene Wenger has maintained his stance about the number of new players he wants to bring in this summer.

The Gunners are preparing for a season without Champions League football for the first time in Wenger’s reign after finishing outside the top four.

However, last Saturday saw Arsenal finish the 2016/17 campaign on a memorable note as goals from Alexis Sanchez and Aaron Ramsey secured a 2-1 victory over Chelsea.

Even so, fans have continued to demand the addition of a several new players this summer to bolster what is perceived to be an under-strength squad.

But according to Wenger, his team is only in need of ‘one or two’ new signings due to the potential it has shown thus far.

“I said last week that this team will win the championship with one or two good buys and I think we are on the way.” the Gunners boss said after the win over Chelsea

“They showed strength, unity and played spectacular football today again.”
