Arsene Wenger is intent on strengthening his squad with not just new signings but promising prospects from the club’s youth system.
Arsenal’s academy has been lauded of late following the emergence of players like Hector Bellerin and Alex Iwobi from the reserves team.
Heading into the end of another season where the Gunners may have to settle for a place in the top four, many have called for Wenger to go on spending spree in the transfer market this summer.
But the Frenchman insists he is ready to add more new faces to the Arsenal first team squad next season through the club’s youth ranks.
“We have many players with big quality. The guys that are with me now, like Chris Willock, who is very impressive. Jeff Reine-Adelaide is with us on a daily basis, Reiss Nelson is with us also,” Wenger was quoted as saying by the London Evening Standard.
“We have a few players, and behind the team is a core of six or seven players, I won’t name them all now, but are a guarantee for the future of Arsenal Football Club,” the 65-year-old Gunners boss added.
