Danny Welbeck could be back in the frame when Arsenal host Swansea City next week.
The 24-year-old missed Arsenal’s trip to Hull City on Monday as the Gunners secured a 3-1 win which effectively clinched a spot in the Premier League top four this season.
Welbeck’s absence was the only concern on a day where Arsene Wenger managed to name a strong bench which featured a returning Jack Wilshere.
But the Arsenal boss has moved to dismiss any fears over Welbeck missing the rest of 2014/15 campaign after revealing that the striker’s injury will not be keeping him out for weeks.
“The inflammation in his knee did not look very bad,’ Wenger said
“It should only be a matter of days. I think he’ll be back next Monday [against Swansea] – he should be alright. If not then, the game after that.”
