Today’s topic is:
What was your favourite memory of Cesc?
It is finally official, Cesc Fabregas is back to being a Barcelona player.
Since being recruited by Arsenal at a 16 year-old, Fabregas set several records as the club; from youngest ever player to youngest ever scorer and most recently, youngest ever captain.
But a homesick Fabregas cited he was not getting any younger and in the midst of Arsenal’s run of barren years, chose to return to Barcelona.
During his eight years at Arsenal, Cesc did live up to the promise he showed following his arrival in 2003, but his failure to lift a trophy as a senior member of the team will have some fans feeling the 24-year-old left with his job undone.
Fabregas is finally gone nonetheless, and for the many who grew sick of annual transfer rumours over his departure, this news is greeted with relief as much as disappointment.
But what moment will remind you the most about Arsenal’s former No.4?
Tackling Viera when he came back with Juventus.
his celebration after the goal against the Spud’s, just seconds after the restart!
My favourite memory is made up of all the times he said nothing and acted like a little coward while his new Barca team-mates ran their mouths about his Barca DNA. He is dead to me.
don’t worry ur just hurt and feel betrayed at the moment, i am too, but a little more hurt than you, i totally worshiped him as an arsenal player AND i think i loved him, so i’m not only disappointed i’m heart broaken.
half way line goal against Scum! on a par with TT’s half way line goal against? . . . Scum! Legends!!!
The goal against AC Milan
My favourite memory is him leaving for Barcelona. :-S
Seriously your favourite memory? We should be saving that for the Bergkamp’s, Henry’s of this world not bloody Cesc Fabregas!
Brilliantly said.
Tottenham goal, running the whole pitch and scoring.
*cry*
Already, my favourite memory is finally seeing an end to this farce.
top 3 – ac milan goal, pen against barca with broken leg and of course solo goal against tottenham
There are simply so many to choose from…the goal vs Vieira’s Juventus, the pass for Henry’s goal at the Bernabeu, his goal against Spurs in the 11 second derby, his successful penalty against the thugs of Stoke the night Ramsey’s leg broke, his screamer against Man City, the penalty against Barca….I can go on and on. But my personal favourite has to be the long range effort against AC Milan at the San Siro, and the passionate celebration that followed.
MoTM performance against Juventus in the Champions League 🙂
The only memory i have of Cesc is that he is a traitor, We brought him to Arsenal when he was nothing now is the time to show loalyty he remeber he has a home, that is very bad. In Arsenal he is a King, but in Bac did he know what the future will bring, time will tell.
My lasting memory will be his prevabracation during the last two years — for me “a great player who went sower. Arsene made him and then he cried to go home. Big salary prestiege of CAptaincy and he was still disloyaal. He should go. But must wish the baset of luck at hoem even though he will spend a lot of time benched. Can,t be too sorry. The furture is still ours to claim one man does not a team make!! Gunners for ever.
The goal against Juventus, THAT goal against Spurs, the 30 yard strike in the San Siro, the penalty against Barca with a broken leg (how can people doubt that kind of commitment?) , the numerous times he has come off the bench to save us (see Aston Villa at the Emirates).
I’m quite shocked to see people describe Cesc as disloyal, he’s spent 8 years at the club and been our best player for each of the last 5. He’s been at Arsenal longer than Pires and even Henry were. And they left when we were actually winning.
I salute you Cesc, I know you loved Arsenal! I wish you the best of luck! I’m just sorry you never lifted the Prem with us!
When he kissed the badge during hte 2009/10 season. Oh how things turn out. Liar. Just don’t kiss the badge in the first place. Complete scum. Why hate Adebayor for it when he’s done just the same?
My favourite memory will be when his career is ended through a lack of playing or hamstring injuries. Preferably a combination, hamstring injuries in training leading to a lack of playing and ultimately rendering him useless.
Juve goal at Highbury and the Milan goal!
He was great for us. I think his “worth a shot surely, dynamite!” goal at White heart lane was when he finally became world class in my eyes. He passing was always world class. That steal of ronaldo and then setting up adebayor with a cute ball was incredible as well against manu at OT. Then the liverpool goal to tie it up and remain unbeaten. Recently the restart goal against tottenham and the most incredible ball(probably the best pass I feel i have seen) against fulham to set RVP up.
It is heartbreaking to see him go. Blood does not equal Love. We might not be catalan but we loved him as one of our own. I have seen him kick every ball he ever kicked as a professional. How many barca fans can say that? yet they claim them as his. F Barca and their hypocritical ways. It is like he is dying cause I am never watching him play in a barca shirt.
Anyway we are bigger than any one player. Let’s get on with it.
His expressions on goal against AC Milan, Stoke (when Ramsey’s leg broke), and of course when he trashed Spuds with his solo run.
Hopefully we’ll get a better replacement like Jadson and Mata.
That goal agasint Juventus! To the guys that wanna hate him now, Fabregas gave us eight years of loyalty. In the Modern Football world, how many other players show that kind off loyalty? You just have to look at the Rooney’s Nasri’s Tevez’s Adebayors etc… Also which footballers dont wanna play for Barca? Give him a break jeez! He would only leave us for Barca, no other team in thw world.
And I’m pretty sure if we were defending champions, racking up trophies, still attracting superstars to the club, Fabregas would have thought twice about his decision.
That’s what he did last year, and the year before that – he tried to stay and be loyal but it was the same story season after season with the club showing little ambition to succeed. He was doing his job with some fine goals and assists but someone else wasn’t.
So when every player’s dream club (let’s admit it…they keep winning) comes calling and offers you a return to your HOME (family and familiar life), an improved salary (defintely because Barca pay more than us), and a realistic chance to be part of a team that win medals, guys, it is kind of hard to turn that down to stay at a foreign club which loves you but keep making the same mistakes year after year.
Put yourself in Fabregas’ shoes….would you want to regret that chance of luxury at Barcelona if Arsenal were trophyless yet again year after year?
Milan goal and Barcelona goal – he broke his leg scoring against barce! he did love arsenal but anyone would want to play for his boyhood club, the club he supported all his life…..
You cant be more upset with cesc then any other players that left us….. we didn’t win anything since cesc has been captain – it’s not his fault but now we have wilshere and ramsey….. even better!

to all you talking about disloyalty, that’s not the entire issue here. He was slightly disloyal, in his lack of work rate and how he just lost his passionate celebrations last year.
The issue is a lack of respect. He’s said nothing about the constant tapping up of barcelona, he’s shown no respect to Arsenal, he’s allowed it to continue, he seems to like it. He leaves halfway through games. NOW THAT IS NOT FUCKING RESPECT.
He probably didn’t want to be seen as a hypocrite what with most fans knowing that he had asked to leave. I think he should have honoured is contract but he certainly gave a lot to the Arsenal cause during his 8 years with the club. Quite frankly it’s Barca and their players approach to whole saga that was completely disrespectful. Unfortunately, we might not know the exact details of what went on behind the scenes and so much is speculation.
Fabregas has gone and yes a good player……but I blame him – well his arrival – for the 6 years of failure and for what we have now ! If Fab had not arrived and Wenger become so infatuated with his potential, we would not have had the accelerated break up of the invincibles and we would not have had the complete change around in playing style to accomodate Fabs ability. As soon as Fab became the central figure in our midfield our style changed from the team orientated incisive sometimes breathtaking attacking style which Henry,Pires,Bergkamp,Vieira etc had destroyed the premier league with. It is quite remarkable how you can pinpoint the exact moment. Sadly instead of making Fab fit into that style (the way ferguson does with all of his acquisitions to maintain the Man U way of playing and therefore maintaining their success) Wenger made the mistake of changing our playing style to try and fit around Fabregas and inevitably it failed! No he leaves and we are in a vacuous position in that the hub of team/style has gone and now the players look lost and very ordinary…. there is no longer the ace in the pack to pick out the slide rule pass or magic moment. Without very quick all round rebuild we will drift, I hope that the rebuild will be on the lines of the invincibles i.e. with a top defence built through class and lots of practice on the traning ground, a classy strong, solid central midfield with wide players with pace and quality, and topped off with strikers who can kill an opposition sigle handedly! Sadly I am not sure Arsene Wenger has the vision to be able to do this!
I think Wenger’s concern was that , whilst as good as the invincibles style was in the EPL it wasn’t cutting the mustard in the Champions League, where the game was more technical and required a more possession based approach. Our results in the Champions league have been much better during Cesc’s time but our League perfomances have declined.
The goal he scored against Spurs and the one against AC Milan……..both classic!!
I knew this would happen one day but i secretly wished that day would never come. I am absolutely gutted to see him leave and to watch him play with the classless (yet talented) hags of Barcelona will be harder than i would have imagined. Thanks for the 8 years mate, wish you best of luck for the future. We had Cesc Fabregas 🙁
As for Arsenal We march on, we have dealt with the sales of our best players and yet we have always been relevant. This might be the kick in the back Wenger needed. Time to show Fabregas why he made the wrong decision
My last memory on him is his goal against Ac milan and his penalty against Barcelona
To me, he deserves my love and a pathing goodbye! He was loved, he’s still loved and will always be loved by me. He gave us his best, but our manager’s refusal to show ambition for the success of the club is killing us all including the players who are asking out. PLS DON’T BLAME FABREGAS!!! My most memorable moment of him was the two goals he scored against Villa when he came of the bench. Like Henry, Fabregas will always remain one of my favourite players of all time. I wish him the best of luck!
