Arsenal have reportedly moved closer in their pursuit of a new midfielder ahead of next season.
The Gunners began last summer by securing the acquisition of Granit Xhaka from Borussia Monchengladbach before the arrival of four more players.
However, Arsenal, who are now level on points with seventh-placed Everton in the Premier League, have continued to struggle in the holding midfield department this season.
Thus, the club has expressed an interest in signing Udinese’s promising youngster Jakub Jankto according to the Mirror.
The report is indicating that the Gunners have been tracking the 21-year-old and have now ‘moved closer’ to a deal to sign him.
With Granit Xhaka still struggling to maintain reliable form, Jankto, whose contract at Udinese expires in 2019, could walk straight into the Arsenal starting eleven.
The addition of a new midfielder would signal Wenger’s lack of faith in his current options despite spending heavily last summer.
