One of Arsenal’s new signings has moved to publicly apologise to fans and play down concerns that he could be a liability in the future after a forgettable moment on Tuesday.
Despite an impressive performance against Portugal, Granit Xhaka received an injury-time red card as Switzerland began their World Cup qualifying campaign with a victory.
The early bath for the 23-year-old, who has previously been sent off in the Bundesliga, appears to be a concerning note for some Arsenal fans who have questioned Xhaka’s ability to control himself on the pitch by avoiding silly fouls.
Below is a replay of the incident which resulted in a second booking for the Swiss international.
Classic Granit Xhaka there. 2 bookings in stoppage time for Switzerland. Game was virtually done. Idiotic.

However, the new Arsenal signing has now taken to social media to apologise for the incident and insists his error will not be repeated in the future.
