26-year-old star provides strange update on agreeing deal with Arsenal before summer
Should he remain in charge of the Gunners beyond this season, Arsene Wenger will once again face the task of keeping some of his key players at the club.
The Arsenal manager approved the exits of a couple of players during last summer as Gabriel and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain said goodbye to the club.
And in the January transfer window, there were more departures as the likes of Francis Coquelin, Theo Walcott, Alexis Sanchez and Olivier Giroud left the Emirates stadium.
With his current contract now close to an expiration, Jack Wilshere has been thrown into the bracket of players who may leave the club.
The 26-year-old sounded optimistic a couple of months ago over his future at the club after improving his fitness record this season.
Strangely though, Wilshere has now revealed that he is not in the same position and progress over agreeing a contract renewal has not been made ahead of the summer.
Indeed, the Englishman has hinted at Arsenal losing interest in extending his contract after revealing that something has ”changed” over the past few months.
“Things have changed since then,” he said.
“We’re no closer to sorting anything out.”
The midfielder spent half of last season on loan at Bournemouth, and for the first time since he broke into the Arsenal first team during the 2010/11 campaign, Wilshere is enjoying a sustained period as a regular member of the starting eleven.
