Arsene Wenger has remained adamant about retaining the services of one of the Premier League’s most coveted players next season.

Sunday’s 2-1 victory over Manchester City eased some of the pressure on the Arsenal manager after disappointing results in recent months.

Alexis Sanchez, who scored the winning goal in that FA Cup semi-final, has been strongly linked with a departure this summer following a superb campaign which has seen him score 24 goals in all competitions.

However, Wenger insists the 28-year-old will still be featuring for the Gunners next season regardless of what speculation is indicating at the moment.

“Alexis Sanchez was like the team,” Wenger said after game

“He had problems to start and became stronger and stronger.

“He is an animal, always ready to kill the opponent. He will never give up.

“He will be here next year because he has a contract and hopefully we will manage to extend.”
