Arsenal’s long list of injured players is gradually being reduced following the return of another player who was ruled out of action.

The Gunners have been troubled by injury problems yet again this year as they look to finally end their drought of going a decade without winning the Premier League title.

However, Arsene Wenger was handed a major boost at the start of this week as Per Mertesacker returned to full training after spending a couple of months on the sidelines.

And Chuba Akpom, who had also been out of action for a lengthy spell due to a serious back problem, has finally resumed training with the first team squad.

This was viewed as a big season for the 21-year-old whose last appearance for Arsenal came in the 4-0 victory against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup.
