Arsenal agree personal terms with $59.5 million star ahead of summer transfer – Report
Arsene Wenger appears to be targeting the signing of another defender when this season is brought to an end.
The Gunners boss moved to strengthen his defensive unit during the summer by adding the likes of Rob Holding and Shkodran Mustafi to his squad.
However, the Arsenal team’s persistent struggles in defending could result in the acquisition of yet another shot-stopper.
Thus, WhoScored are claiming that AS Roma star Kostas Manolas has now held talks with the Gunners over a move to north London this summer.
The report is indicating that Arsenal have agreed personal terms with the 25-year-old over a transfer which would cost around $59.5 million (£47 million).
Manolas is known to have been a Wenger target for a long time after Olympiakos rejected Arsenal’s offer for him before he was sold to AS Roma two years ago.
With the Italian side now needing to sell a player in order to satisfy Financial Fair Play regulations, the Gunners have a golden opportunity to land their man.
Even so, the club’s rumoured interest in Manolas is not entirely reasonable considering the fact that Per Mertesacker recently signed a new contract while the likes of Gabriel, Rob Holding and Calum Chambers are still on Arsenal’s books.
