Former Arsenal star Ray Parlour has backed the Gunners to attempt to force through a surprise transfer this summer.
Arsene Wenger and his side have faced much criticism in recent weeks after falling further behind Chelsea in the Premier League and being thrashed 5-1 by Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
As a result, several fans and pundits have called for the club to make wholesale changes ahead of the 2017/18 season.
But while some are asking for Wenger to be replaced with a new manager, Parlour is recommending a marquee signing instead.
According to the ex-Gunner, Sergio Aguero, who recently had a fall-out with Pep Guardiola, should be the man Arsenal targets this summer.
“That [move] would be good,” Parlour said on Talk Sport
“That would be a nice signing, but £300,000-a-week though so I’m not too sure.
“Arsenal would be a much better team with Aguero in it [but] why would Man City want to sell him?
“They are trying to rule the Champions League over the next few years.”
The improbable arrival of the Argentine superstar would certainly eclipse the acquisition of Mesut Ozil on transfer deadline day in the summer of 2013.
