The Gunners appear to be readying a move to sign one of European football’s biggest names as a replacement for out-of-favour star Mesut Ozil.

New Arsenal manager Unai Emery has shown very little faith in Mesut Ozil, a player whom his predecessor Arsene Wenger signed from Real Madrid in the summer of 2013.

Emery has decided to drop the German from his starting eleven in several games and he is now being tipped to get rid of the midfielder.

According to the Daily Mail, the Gunners are preparing a move to sign James Rodriguez as a replacement for Ozil.

The Colombian star was strongly linked with a transfer to the Emirates stadium a couple of seasons ago and the club appears to have renewed its interest in the playmaker.

Rodriguez, who has fallen out of favour at Bayern Munich this season, is still on the books of Real Madrid after being sent out to Germany on a two-year loan.

Indeed, the report states that the Colombian would actually cost Arsenal only £3million based on a contract condition, if his move was to be completed this month – since the player has only six months left on his loan at Bayern.
