Arsene Wenger has been given the green-light to secure the services of a player he has been chase since the summer of 2016 according to emerging rumours.

The Arsenal manager witnessed his side fall further behind in the race for a top four finish on Wednesday as they settled for a 2-2 draw against rivals Chelsea at the Emirates stadium.

Wenger recently admitted in an interview that he would be keen on bringing in a new signing as long as the player is of an exceptional quality.

And to the delight of the Gunners boss, Leicester City have now given buyers permission to sign Riyad Mahrez as long as an acceptable offer is received, according to Metro.

The Foxes were expected to lose the services of the Algerian star after their surprising title triumph in 2016 but they somehow managed to shrugg off the interest of various suitors.

However, with Mahrez now eagerly seeking a move away from the club, Leicester are being forced to sell him for a price in the region of £40million.

Thus, Arsenal now have perhaps one last opportunity to snap up the 26-year-old who scored a magnificent goal against Huddersfield on Monday.
