Ahead of Arsenal’s clash with Southampton in the League Cup, the Gunners are once again dealing with a few injury worries.

Below is a round-up of all the immediate fitness concerns in the squad, excluding players who are known to be spending long-term spells on the sidelines.

Olivier Giroud

The Frenchman remained on the ground at full-time on after playing a part in the 3-1 victory over Bournemouth as a substitute.

Giroud appears to be struggling with a hamstring problem according to Arsene Wenger.

“The only worry we have is Giroud. He looked to touch his hamstring. We have to see how deep the damage is. He told me on his first movement he felt a twinge.” the Gunners boss said

Theo Walcott

Walcott was the man who went off to be replaced by Giroud during the weekend as he featured for 76 minutes, scoring an important goal.

The 27-year-old had an ice bag on his leg when he returned to the bench but the Arsenal manager insists the forward’s problem is “only a kick”.

Mathieu Debuchy

The French full-back was forced off with an injury, only 16 minutes into his first start of the season as Gabriel came on to play at right-back.

According to Wenger, the 31-year-old is set to undergo tests which will determine whether he is set for another long spell on the sidelines or not.

“I have to speak to medical people, but you can only assess it really after 48 hours,” said Wenger. “You have to let it bleed and usually they have an MRI scan 48 hours later to see how big the damage is.”

Hector Bellerin

The Spaniard has revealed he is making a very speedy progress towards recovery after the ankle injury he suffered against Tottenham.

Bellerin could be back in action within two weeks.
