Arsenal have reportedly made an initial contact over the signing of a young midfielder, as Mikel Arteta looks for a replacement for the soon-to-be-gone Dani Ceballos.

With the 2019/20 season now on hold, Mikel Arteta and the club will have some time to consider any potential transfer targets whom they may pursue when normal business resumes.

And according to a claim translated and relayed by Sport Witness from Denmark’s BT, Arsenal have made contact with Brøndby over the possibility of signing promising midfielder Anis Ben Slimane.

With Dani Ceballos expected to return to Spain at the end of his loan spell with the Gunners, Arteta appears to be pushing to find a replacement for the Spaniard.

Thus, the report suggests that Arsenal are keen on recruiting Ben Slimane and Brøndby are indeed demanding a fee of £4.4m (€5m) to let go of the gifted 19-year-old.

It remains unclear whether the Gunners will be fine with paying that amount, but the potential acquisition of the midfielder would see him team up with a number of bright youngsters like Gabriel Martinelli, Reiss Nelson and Bukayo Saka at the Emirates stadium.
