Arsenal midfielder could miss rest of season
Abou Diaby’s return from injury will be taking longer than expected.
The Frenchman had been ruled out for nine months in March after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.
But Diaby’s recovery period is set to be extended to at least a year after feedback from the Arsenal camp suggested that the former Auxerre man may need until the latter stages of this campaign to return to training.
With the severity of his knee injury requiring a slow and cautious return to fitness, Diaby, who will first need to participate in reserves games before joining up with the first team when fit again, may well miss the entire season.
The midfielder last played a game in Arsenal colours on March 16 in last season’s 2-0 away victory at Swansea. And speaking ahead of this weekend’s Premier League clash with Southampton, Arsene Wenger echoed the news that Diaby will take some months after the new year to return.
“Diaby will be back in March” Wenger said.
The 27-year-old is currently able to move freely and even gave his own update via twitter back in June. But resuming action on the pitch will take much longer.
Let’s all wish Diaby the best of luck.
I wish diaby best, but my advice me for him to quite football
He has been a waste of time. With the greatest of respect, Arsene shd let his contract run down. We have many quality mds.
Nizam, that is not how Arsenal treat their players.
So we should give Diaby a never ending contract and insult actual stars like Bergkamp etc by only offering them a year extension?! I’d rather have Bergkamp right now over that waste of space. Do me a favour
Why do’nt you think this injury was sustained while playing for our club! Arsenal is a responsible club and it does not gives up on players in this kind of situation.
wish he would go away and rot
paddy, you shoud be ashamed of yourself.
Does the club have to pay him or does an insurance company pay?Just interested.
quick recovery abou.
abou diaby is a waste in arsenal squard he just eat free money in the club so let the man just quit out of the game and return home.
Wishing Abou Diaby happy recovery
I really pity him, about his injury
Hi gyz i feel pety 4 him but like Rvp he may be back fully fit en shine 4 one season en demand 4 a transfer however, iwish hin qcq recovery.
Good job
Dead-Wood!! good squad player when fit (whenever that is) but on a good wage,if you owned your own company and one of your staff was sick for this long you would get rid.no difference here,in biz no room for sentiment, give him decent Pay-Off then send him on his way.
Get Draxler and Lewandoski in January if poss if not summer and turn us into real contenders not a team that we all know are waiting to blow
Up………..C,mon Arsene splash the cash and make us Great again.
Difference here
He has a CONTRACT!!.,
If he could possibly come back it would help the squad enormously. There is a reason wenger holds onto him, his inclusion in the squad would strengthen us much the same as ozil has changed the team.i know it’s been a long time coming but his game against Liverpool when he first came back was a perfect example of what could be. I for one, wish him all the best and would love to see it work out for him and the club.
I wish Diabi speedy recovery. I hope he will be a great asset to the team in the build up to winning our first premiership title for the first time in about 10 years
Do you honestly think Diaby wished this on himself. Footballers want to play football and to play for Arsenal is an honour.
He is a player who when fit was majestic but injuries and various setbacks have ruined his career.
The club and he will know what is best for him.
waw am very happy to diaby
