Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi made a post on Twitter which was perceived by many as a shot at former teammate Alexis Sanchez on Tuesday, ahead of the Chelsea game.
The uncertainty surrounding the future of Sanchez threatened to harm the mood in the Arsenal dressing room heading into this season after the forward’s collapsed move to Manchester City on transfer deadline day in the summer.
As the season went on, the Chilean international’s desire to leave the club appeared to disrupt the team’s unity as the Gunners struggled to keep up with the rest of the top six in the Premier League.
Sanchez’s transfer to Manchester United was finally confirmed on Monday as he brought an end to a three-and-a-half-year stay at the Emirates stadium.
And ahead of the League Cup semi-final clash with Chelsea, Shkodran Mustafi took to Twitter to subtly express his thoughts.
The German called on the rest of the team with the words “all together now”, suggesting there was indeed a better atmosphere in the dressing room in the wake of Sanchez’s departure.
Prior to his exit, the ex-Barca man was reported to have been involved in a couple of bust-ups with some teammates and staff members at the club.
