Arsenal to gain midfield options
Arsene Wenger has revealed Tomas Rosicky and Cesc Fabregas are most likely to shorten Arsenal’s long injury list for next week’s meeting with West Ham while Alex Song has now completed his two-match domestic ban.
Fabregas hobbled off last week with a hamstring problem against Burnley while Rosicky had to be brought off with a minor knee injury in the clash with Porto on Tuesday.
The return of Arsenal’s skipper will be a major boost to the side’s creativity while Song will be back to strengthen the Gunners’ defensive mold in the continued absence of William Gallas.
“Rosicky and Fabregas have a good chance to be ready for next week. Gallas, no.” Wenger said.
There was more good news for Wenger’s midfield options on Saturday as promising youngster Fran Merida returned from injury to fill Aaron Ramsey’s void on the bench for the first time since his goal-scoring substitute appearance in the 2-0 win at Bolton on January 17.

any idea when rvp will be back .there were rumours hed be back by early april.
i aint that worried about bill .i feel more secure whem vermalean and sol (as long as hes fit) are out in the middle
Wenger said anywhere before mid-April is “pre-mature” and we know how he’ll want to wrap the player in cotton wool before letting him out there.
RVP will also have to play in a reserves’ match before his return.
So expect to see him either in late April or early May.
as long as Nik52 keeps firing, RVP cant continue enjoying the his afternoon tea infornt of the missus and the kids as long as he needs…
This is good news; our players now need to stay fit. It would be amazing to have a clean bill of health as we approach the end of the season. Nice game today, guys were clearly jaded but they dug deep and got the 3 points. Hat of to Nik for producing the goods
i hope gallas is back soon when matches come thick & fast… this was evident last night at hull when we started brightly and lost a bit of sharpness after our first goal… sol had a few nervy moments vs porto & hull, so gallas’ return will be a welcomed boost… i’ll be glad if RVP can be back for our final 2 monthx
Denilson should get more credit and less stick. he’s the only player we have who is willing to shoot from distance and they even go in occasionally. we also have something else that has been missing in bendtner, a poacher in the box.
I’d rather he didn’t give the ball to the other team in our half for most of the game then jog back as everyone else around him sprints past him than take a 30 yard shot in the 93rd minute.
Ha ha…that actually made me laugh. Im not a denilson fan, i dont think an occasional shot/good goal every 4 months warrants you a first team place. A replacement player can do that….plus much more!
I think arsenal has the best chance on earth to lift the title.
Sick n tired of the Skysports anti Arsenal bias, I sent this email regarding their INACCURATE & DISHONEST report of our match vs Hull to u2us@skysports.com It’s about time Arsenal fans deluged Sky with complaints about their anti Arsenal bias & dishonesty…………
‘Your report on the Hull vs Arsenal match which you broadcast every hour is factually DISHONEST as follows …………. With regard to Hull player Zayatte’s injury, the reporter says that a freekick was awarded but no yellow card to Sol Campbell. WRONG !! A free kick was not awarded to Hull City , play had continued until being stopped for treatment to Zayatte. Play was resumed with Arsenal having the ball back in their possession. Correctly it was therefore NOT a foul by Campbell & therefore a potential yellow card was not an issue. In any case it is clear that it was a fair tackle & therefore mischief making by Skysports who are continuing their usual negative & Arsenal bias. A copy of this email will be sent on to the Press Complaints Commission & Arsenal Football Club as this DISHONEST & INACCURATE broadcasting is unacceptable. Kindly have the decency to amend your broadcast accordingly’
DO YOU KNOW HOW BIASED ESPN IS TO MANHOLE,USUALLY BEFORE MATCHES THEY SHOE FLASHBACK MOMENTS WHICH TEND TO GO BACK 2 LAST SEASONS CORREDPONDING FIXTURES….FOR EG.ARSENAL VS MANU LAST SEASON 2-1..SO BEFORE OUR 3-1 LOSS TO THEM THIS SEASON..THEY SHOULD SHOW THAT 2-1 LOSS TO MANU…SHOULD…BUT THEY SHOWED MANUS 2-1 VICTORY OVER ARSENAL AT OLD TRAFFORD.
NOW,BEFORE MANU VS FULHAM THEY R SHOWING THE FLASHBAK OF LAST SEASON WHEN FULHAM LOST 3-0 AT OLD TRAFFORD INSTEAD OF THE CRAVEN COTTAGE HAMMERING!!!
I have sent a similar email as well
As you can see yet again I proved my amazing world class skill by scoring from 8 yards.
Re the earleier posts about Gallas I wonder if his absence is less about his fitness and more Wenger knows he is leaving in the summer and just isn’t playing him.
Good to have Song back…we are getting killed in midfield defensively…..Diaby has a tendency of going forward but is naturally good in DM….Denilson is good but NOT strong enough.
Gallas might be leaving in the summer. We all know that since losing his captaincy Gallas has been doubted to continue with Arsenal after his contract expires. Contract talks with teams like Roma may mean Gallas is already leaving the exit door open just in case. Wenger & arsenal have reportedly offered him lesser cash than Roma is offering.
Will be sad to see Gallas leave. Hopefully, he will change his mind to stay on. Can still contribute a lot to The Arsenal’s ambitions.
“Arsenal to gain midfield options” is indeed a welcome news. Go Arsenal Go!!!
im sorry to say but some of u here are utter CUNTS!!! still slagging off bendtner shame on u idiots…u should be ashamed to call yourself arsenal fans!!the rebound was fst bendy only had a second to respond by the way.
It will be good to have more midmield options. I think we will beat the spuds and the Emirate should ensure we beat citeh. Otherwise our other games should be easy.
Cume on u GOONERS!
I think I said last nite Dennilson should e given credit for take a shot while th others who can shot pitypattedaround. YOu simply cannot always walk the ball in – despite uperb build up. God on ya Denilson you actuall created the goal and the big Dan expertly and quickly finnished it off. However good that the other guys are coming back but please don,t rush VP he is to good to go out again long period. On the negative side is Eduardo a spent force after the horredous injury will he ever poduce again or should he go?? Lawrence J BEadle
Kipmonster…
Be very glad you don’t live in South Korea…where for no other reason than Korean players are on the squads Man Utd and Bolton (this season) are rammed down your throat every week.
Its obscene…their bald-faced favouritism towards Man Utd is revolting.
Gallas can go and we can have cheillini from juve in d summer
