Arsene Wenger is looking to secure the addition of a new shot-stopper according to emerging reports on Monday.
The Arsenal manager attempted to bolster his defensive unit during last summer by bringing in the likes of Rob Holding and Shkodran Mustafi.
Those acquisitions came a year after Petr Cech was signed from Chelsea in a deal which many thought would transform the Gunners’ leaky defence into a watertight one.
However, Arsenal’s continued frailties at the back means Wenger is apparently back in search of a new goalkeeper this summer.
According to the Sun via RMC, the Gunners are now interested in signing Rui Patricio from Sporting Lisbon.
The 29-year-old goalkeeper has been in encouraging form in the Portuguese Primeira Liga where Sporting are currently nine points behind league leaders Benfica.
And the new report is suggesting that Arsenal are planning on an offer worth around $16.3 million (£13 million) for the Portugal international.
Patricio’s arrival would see him replace the under-performing Petr Cech in the starting line-up while David Ospina appears to be seeking a move elsewhere.
