Sky Sports pundit Matt Le Tissier has called for Arsene Wenger to secure at least three major signings to improve his squad ahead of next season.

The Gunners’ ambition has been questioned by some following the news of Wenger’s two-year extension to remain at the Emirates stadium.

Arsenal’s failure to finish in the top four of the Premier League last season has prompted demands for several new signings this summer.

However, Matt Le Tissier insists the Gunners are only in need of strengthening in three positions; centre-back, defensive midfield and centre-forward.

“My reaction isn’t one of surprise, as we all expected it [Wenger staying] to happen.” Le Tessier said on Sky Sports

“He’s obviously got some work to do to win over a sizeable majority of the fans who will be disappointed that he’s signed a new contract after his worst league finish since taking over.

“He’s got to do his business in the summer, and I think they need a world-class centre-forward, somebody to strengthen the centre of their defence and then a holding midfielder as well.

“Obviously they missed Cazorla and it’s bad news that he’s out until October. I’m not a big fan or Francis Coquelin or Granit Xhaka, although you’d expect him to improve this summer.
