Arsenal have moved into the race to sign one of the most coveted forwards around Europe according to emerging reports.
Arsene Wenger witnessed a fit-again Danny Welbeck mark his first start since May 2016 with two goals as the Gunners thrashed Southampton 5-0 in the FA Cup on Saturday.
However, the Arsenal manager appears to be still in search of more goal-scorers to add to his squad, especially with the contract situation of star man Alexis Sanchez still unresolved heading into the summer.
As a result, Metro via the Mail are claiming that Arsenal have now moved into the race for the signature of Atletico Madrid talisman Antoine Griezmann.
The 25-year-old has strongly been linked with a move to the Emirates stadium in the past couple of years while the interest of Premier League rivals Manchester United has been very clear as well.
Diego Simeone, Atletico Madrid’s current manager, recently admitted that he would pave the way for Griezmann to find a new club if he wishes to do so, prompting more speculation about the player’s future.
According to the latest report, Arsenal, who made a whopping offer of $70.2 million for Torino star Andrea Belotti which was rejected this month, are now prepared to bid $106 million for Griezmannn.
Earlier this week, the Gunners were linked with a move for another high-profile target Marco Reus, but the successful acquisition of Ateltico’s forward would certainly be the true marquee signing for most fans.
