Arshavin sees no importance in where he ends career, but will not rule out home return
Where he will end his career is not the main topic on Andrey Arshavin’s mind at the moment, but St. Petersburg would be the perfect place if anything.
The Russian was once rumored to have demanded a quick return home during homesick times in his early days as an Arsenal player.
Those suggestions may have been untrue and Arshavin has now quashed any existing doubts over his commitment to the Gunners.
Andrey recently affirmed he will honor his five-year contract, but he may not be stopped when Zenit St. Petersburg come singing his name again.
For Arshavin, ending his career in his hometown will be something special.
“It is not important where I will finish my career. But personally, St. Petersburg is important so that they would love me in my own city.” he said in a forum with members of his website.”
This guy is starting to get on my nerves
He’s done nothing wrong. Just being honest.
I used to live and work in SPB. I wouldn’t mind retiring there myself.
Look, the guy wants a testimonial season in his hometown, with his hometown club. Nothing wrong with that, and as this was a blog response on his personal website, you have to understand that the original question undoubtedly came from a Zenit fan. Andrey is regularly on his site, answers questions personally in a special section for that, and is quite open with his responses (as he is when talking to the English press).
Also, it should be noted that Russian – English translations are notoriously tricky. The languages do not always match up well, especially considering nuance of certain words and phrases. It’s entirely possible (I haven’t looked at his original, Russian comments yet) that his response in Russian was very generic, but when translated to English, took on a different tone and appear to be more forceful than he intended.
If Andrey wants to end his career at Zenit, I’d fully support him in that. He’ll certainly give everything he has while at Arsenal and we should revel in every second that he’s a Gunner.
Every player wants to finish his carrier the place which he has started … he can never forget his boyhood club bcoz it has given arshavin a lot …
no matter what happens to his old club .. he can atleast play one season before he retires…
Nothing to do with this article, but Randy hasn’t posted, yet. The thing I dreaded the most everyday since he has been back has come to reality. I woke up this morning to read that, Rosicky is once again sidelined. He injured himself in pracrice. I had so much hopes with, Rosicky coming back. He looked pretty good with preseason games. I think, Arsene needs to buy 2 more players. Nasri/Rosicky are ahuge blow. Who know who will be next. The season hasn’t even taken off and this happens. Are we curesed?
Go Gunners!
*cursed
As the saying goes ” There’s no place like home ” still hold true to many people.
Not again ?? My favorite player Rosicky is injured. Let’s hope that both Rosicky and Nasri will have a speedy recovery.
