Arteta on whether he could sign 23-year-old whom he is ‘really happy with’
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has spoken on whether he could secure a move to sign on-loan midfielder Dani Ceballos after the Real Madrid player’s impressive displays for the Gunners in recent weeks.
With Aaron Ramsey choosing to leave the club for Juventus on a free transfer at the end of last season, the Gunners had no choice but to bring in another midfielder to bolster the squad for this campaign.
As a result, then-Arsenal boss Unai Emery decided to secure the signing of Dani Ceballos on a season-long loan from Real Madrid last summer.
The 23-year-old was limited to the bench after returning from his injury lay-off but things have changed dramatically for him in recent weeks after several starts across all competitions.
With Lucas Torreira now injured, Ceballos is likely to enjoy more playing time in the team and that has prompted the question over whether he is worth signing at all.
When asked about the possibility of securing the acquisition of the Spaniard on a permanent deal, Mikel Arteta remained tight-lipped, even though he was full of praise for Ceballos.
“We haven’t had any discussions about it. I’m really happy with Dani and what he’s bringing to the team right now.” Arteta said, as per Arsenal.com
“It took him a while after his injury to get to the level that he has and that I’ve seen in the past. He’s performing much better now and that’s why he’s playing much more games.”
