Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has revealed that the Gunners have entered conversations regarding the future of one of the squad’s most important players from this season.

Arsenal have lost a number of key players in recent years, with the likes of Samir Nasri, Robin van Persie and Alexis Sanchez leaving to join rival clubs after contractual disputes at the Emirates stadium.

Following the rise to stardom of Bukayo Saka, it has become imperative for the club to tie down the youngster to a new contract before his head is turned by another side.

The teenager has been one of Arsenal’s best players this season, after regularly featuring in a previously unfamiliar left-back role, due to the absences of Kieran Tierney and Sead Kolasinac.

With Saka yet to sign a new deal which would see him commit his future to the Gunners after his impressive first team breakthrough, there will continue to be uncertainty regarding what could happen in the summer.

However, when asked about the promising youngster’s situation, Arteta revealed that the club had now entered talks with him to resolve his future.

“The club is doing what it has to do and is having conversations, [and hopefully] we’ll get it resolved.” the Arsenal boss said, as per the club’s official website
