Arteta reveals why one Arsenal star is ‘very disappointed’ ahead of Sunday
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has revealed that one of his new signings from January is ‘very disappointed’ ahead of the clash with Newcastle on Sunday.
The Gunners were not very active in the transfer market for much of January until the club managed to secure two new additions in the final week of the transfer window.
One of Arsenal’s signings was Cedric Soares, who agreed to move to the Emirates stadium on a loan deal from Southampton for the remainder of the season.
The 28-year-old was able to travel with the Gunners squad to Dubai as they trained and recharged their batteries for the final months of what has been a frustrating campaign.
However, ahead of the clash with Newcastle, Mikel Arteta has revealed that Soares is still not fit enough to make his debut in an Arsenal shirt.
According to the Gunners boss, the full-back is actually ‘very disappointed’ at the moment, due to his fitness woes which have stopped him from making his first appearance for Arsenal.
“He is very disappointed because when you join a new club you want to make an impression straight away.” he said, as quoted by Arsenal.com
“He had an issue in his knee, it is not completely healed yet and he hasn’t been training with us so I expect him to be back in the next couple of weeks but I can’t give you a date.”
