Manchester City defender John Stones has admitted that their dressing room has been hit with a ‘massive disappointment’ ahead of this weekend’s clash against Arsenal.

Pep Guardiola’s side are set to take on the Gunners in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday in what is now a much-anticipated showdown.

When Arsenal booked their place in the final of the competition after defeating Chelsea last month, they were deemed by many as heavy underdogs for the Wembley date.

However, Manchester City are no longer receiving the same amount of rave reviews they were at the time after suffering a surprise 1-0 defeat to Wigan on Monday.

And according City defender Stones, Guardiola’s men have been hit by a ‘massive disappointment’ ahead of Sunday’s clash due to their unexpected elimination from the FA Cup.

“They got one chance and scored it. It’s our own fault we’re out of the FA Cup,” the former Everton player said

“(The feeling in the dressing room) is massive disappointment for ourselves.

“We want to be competing in all four competitions until the end. Tonight was a final for us but it’s never easy, coming away to a lower league team with the conditions and everything that comes with it.

“It’s a blow. I can’t say much more.”
