Arsene Wenger has given an update on several players who have injury problems heading into this weekend’s FA Cup fixture.

The Gunners are set to begin their campaign in the famous domestic cup competition after Tuesday’s 3-3 draw with Bournemouth.

Ahead of the trip to Preston North End, the likes of Francis Coquelin and Kieran Gibbs are expected to not feature while Lucas Perez, Theo Walcott and Mesut Ozil may also be on the sidelines.

“Well, we might have a problem with Lucas because he injured his ankle and I have to see how he responds to that but that is the only problem we have from the game.” the Arsenal manager said on Thursday

“Coming back, the closest is Walcott but he is still not ready, Gibbs will not be ready so I don’t think will be coming back into the squad.”

The Gunners boss also revealed that Santi Cazorla, who has been out of action since October, is struggling to recover after undergoing surgery.

“At the moment, he is far [from returning]. It’s not going as quickly as I imagined it, so certainly in January he will not come back.” Wenger added
