Brilliant news for Abou Diaby and Andre Santos
Andre Santos and Abou Diaby are likely to be available for next week’s Premier League visit to Everton.
The duo have spent much of the season on the sidelines but have now received positive news over their fitness.
Diaby, perpetually injured, has been limited to an astonishing three appearances all season – all as a substitute – and has even seen his future at the club questioned by frustrated fans.
Santos on the other hand went down to an unlucky ankle injury in December after being risked by Arsene Wenger in a Champions League visit to Olympiakos.

The Brazilian has now recovered from his surgery in January, and was even named on the bench during Monday’s 2-1 victory over Newcastle.
But the summer signing from Fenerbahce has some warming up towards his fitness to do, and Wednesday night’s participation with the club’s reserves will serve as that, ahead of the trip to Goodison in a week’s time where Abou Diaby – previously feared to have seen an early end to his season after limping off at Anfield – is set to return.
“Diaby is not far [away], Santos I think will play on Wednesday night in the Reserves against West Brom. He will need 90 minutes.” Wenger said.
“Diaby should be back for Everton, he has a little chance. Jack [Wilshere] is less imminent.”

all of a sudden we have a massive squad. lets not forget jack either.
Alliamdulilahi
Diaby should play in the reserves until he’s over his problems.
Diaby is a massively tallented footballer & is still only in his mid 20’s. If he can overcome his injury problems he will be a huge player for Arsenal. Lets face it both RVP & Rosicky have been ‘sick notes’ in the past & look at them now!!!
Great 2 have them both back we r getting depth back into the squad
Despite their presence, AW shd nt stp using his winning team nd let d new ones gradually integrate into d team
Pls let,s the players do their best in order to beat everton atlest 3-1,becouse arsenal team are in forms now.let them work hard together becouse we ned that 3points.wenger you surpose to send ur complain to FA On epl refferee,s they hate arsenal why?
Then there is Jack Wilshere!
The only good news about Diaby I want to hear is that he’s sold as soon as possible. He gets paid 60,000 a week to be injured. When he’s fit he’s sh**. He get’s carried off taken off or sent off….a disgrace to the shirt and to the club. He once said he dreams of playing for Real or Barca. I have nightmares everytime I see his name on the team sheet. Get rid for god sake and take Djourou with him.
What utter nonsense!
tru dat
You obviously know very little about football!!
It’s tough when I’m surrounded by football geniuses!!
Moron. I’d like to see you recover from having your ankle dislocated plus all the attendant ligament problems and then have injury free playing time at the top level, you mug.
As I said before in a previous post, we bought him crocked, his old manager said he was always crocked. He remains crocked and we are paying him 60,000 a week for the privilage. If you think that is good football business then you are the Muggy Meppa Mepp
Arsen doesn’t like being given the finger!
Sell both of these guys!!!!!! They ain’t good enough and with players like this in the squad wr are leaking money on wages when it could be used to fund a REAL quality players wage bill
will be happy to see diaby playing again.
Weather diaby is ok or not he should be among the clearout in summer,
diaby is very talented and has had no problem earning call-ups from his national squad, i’m a big fan. i just don’t think we should keep 60k/wk on the books unless he can prove he can play consistently just as our captain did. best case scenario would be him showing his capabilities in the remainder of the season to earn a trip to the euros where he can build some confidence and momentum for the 2012-13 arsenal season. best of luck he’s still quite young.
International Career since 2006 15 Appearances Goals 0 Assists 0
Arsenal FC Career since 2005 161 Appearances Goals 20 Assists 14
“Abou was one of the players I used at the start of the season and then he had to stop because of repetitive injuries. Maybe he was attracted by England and the money there. This probably did not force him to make all the necessary efforts to come back to his best level with us.”
Former Auxerre manager Jacques Santini following the sale of Diaby.
Diaby is a talented footballer. His ability to run at defenders is a great asset. Defenders will tell you they hate someone running at them with the ball.If he can stay injury free,Wenger will have more options. So 4th wont be a problem.
I don’t think they will make the same mistake with Diaby as last time. He was rushed on to play because of Arteta’s injury, and it backfired. Luckily, he knew he tweaked something and informed the bench before it got any worse.
Aiden, your comments sound like you have not supported the team very long? Yes, Diaby got sent off … Why? Because of a reckless tackle came in and could have ended his career. When you consider he was just coming back from another such reckless tackle that has effectively taken away two years of his footballing life, it was an understandable reaction?
As has been said above, if he works his way back gradually and overcomes his injury, he has the potential to be one of the best midfielders this club as ever likely to have. Far better in fact than many names on peoples transfer wish list?
You’re right Gerry, I’ve only been a Gooner for 35 yrs. Unfortunately I can only go by what i’ve seen of him since he joined our great club. I posted stats to back up my argument and incuded a statement from Jaques Santini, his former manager before Wenger signed him. It seems he was a crock when we bought him back in 2005/2006. He’s been at the club over 6 years now and injury or not, he has neither improved or enhanced our team. If you and other, long standing fans feel he is an asset to our club, a budding Arsenal legend, worth every penny of the 60 grand a week Wenger and the board throw at him, then that is your opinion Gerry. But I don’t have time for sicknotes, passengers, mercenaries and mediocraty when it comes to Arsenal Football Club. Unfortunately the Board, Wenger and yourself and other do.
Fans like you would have had Van Persie sold years ago *smh*!!!
Van Persie when fit was always class, always gave 110% he deserved time and patience. He is World Class and has proved himself an Arsenal Legend….Diaby I’m afraid is not and never will be. He was a crock when we bought him and is still a crock 6 years on. Just sayin’……
*smh*?
You are a chump. do you know how bad the shattering of this boy’s ankle was? it was probably worse than ramsey’s and maybe eduardo’s respective injuries. Only there weren’t any gory pictures for the tabloid hacks to feast on. Abou Diaby is probably the most talented French footballer at the moment and, once his niggles sort themselves out, he’ll prove this to idiots like you. I bet you were saying RVP and Rosicky should be sold 1-2 years ago!
All will be well, tanxs to arsenal medical team
To be honest Diaby has no business whatsoever with Arsenal. He should be shown the exit door as our midfield is already congested with the likes of wilshere,Coquelin,SONG,Arteta,Rosicky,Ramsey,Frimpong,Henry Lansbry,Ozyakup just to name a few.
No , I’ve always said Van Persie was world class. Rosicky is back on form. Diaby has never had any form other than average fit or not. I can’t wait to see him mature into the next Viera he was meant to be. Really, I can’t……Thanks for your genius input
you carry on playing football manager cuntflap.
Oh Perry, are you flirting with me? I love it when you talk dirty Big Boy!!
