Carragher admits he has been ‘hugely impressed’ by Arsenal man as season progresses
Sky Sports pundit and former Liverpool skipper Jamie Carragher has made an admission about the Gunners’ boss, after previously being skeptical over his ability to succeed.
Arsenal’s start to the season was so worrying that by late November, the club was forced into making the decision to sack Unai Emery, just over a year after he had been appointed as the man to take over from Arsene Wenger.
Even though there were other options available, the Gunners’ hierarchy chose to hire Mikel Arteta as the replacement for Emery, despite valid concerns over his lack of managerial experience.
Jamie Carragher, who faced Arteta several times on the pitch during the Spaniard’s playing days, has admitted that he did not consider him as someone who could develop into a proper manager.
However, after witnessing the impact that the 37-year-old has made so far as the Gunners’ boss, Carragher has been quick to admit that he might have been wrong about Arteta.
Never saw #Arteta as managerial material in his playing days at Everton, but I’ve been hugely impressed with his start as @Arsenal boss on & off the pitch. #football #arsenal
