Sky Sports pundit and former England international Jamie Carragher has stated that he would not be surprised if the Gunners sold arguably their most important player in the near future.

The Gunners appear to be in serious need of reinforcement once again after a woeful start to the season which has seen them remain outside of the top four of the Premier League since early October.

New head coach Mikel Arteta has been assigned the very difficult task of lifting up and improving what seems to be an ageing and declining squad of players.

Perhaps the first step for the Arsenal boss in the transfer window will be to get rid of certain players who might not have many years left to offer the club.

And for Jamie Carragher, Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang, who has been the team’s top scorer for the past two seasons, is certainly one of the players that Arteta could ditch.

According to the Sky Sports pundit, it would not be a shock to see the former Dortmund star get sold for a ‘big money’ offer in the near future.

“You look at up front and the age of Aubameyang, he’s got a year to go,” Carragher said, as quoted my Metro

“I wouldn’t be surprised if they cashed in on Aubameyang if somebody offered them big money.

“That’s even though he’s one of the top strikers in the Premier League. They do still have Lacazette there also but it’s a big job at Arsenal.”
