Arsenal star Petr Cech has reflected on what he felt was the difference between the two sides on Friday night as Arsenal suffered a 3-1 defeat to Manchester United in the FA Cup.

The Gunners were by far the better side the last time the two teams met prior to Friday’s game when Arsenal were held to a 2-2 draw at Old Trafford.

With United back in form, many tipped the Red Devils to give Arsenal a stern test in the fourth round of the FA Cup and that was exactly how things turned out.

Even though Unai Emery’s men created the better chances in the opening 30 minutes, it was the away side who somehow managed to take the lead as former Gunner Alexis Sanchez placed the ball past Petr Cech.

Arsenal’s goalkeeper on the night did not have a game to remember as he conceded three times with the back four providing him with almost no support.

After the match, Cech was asked about what he felt was the difference between the two sides and he pointed United’s clinical finishing as the decisive factor on Friday.

“They took their chances and we didn’t. That was the difference in the game.” Cech said

“We are disappointed with that because we wanted to win again after a big win against Chelsea. It wasn’t to be.”

Cech also admitted that he felt the team’s performance was better than how the score line told the story in the end.

“Well it’s a disappointment, because we played much better than the result shows. Obviously they created some counter-attacking situations and they punished us from that. You can see they are full of confidence, and that’s why when they arrive in the last third, they choose the right options to finish their actions.” he added

“At 2-1 I thought we were back in the game. In the second half we had some chances early on but unfortunately we couldn’t get the equaliser. Then it was the same story – they had a counter-attack and a goal.”
