Sky Sports are reporting that the Gunners are now closing in on a deal for another defender as the month of July looms.
The Gunners have started off the summer with a lot of transfer activity, after saying goodbye to Arsene Wenger in beginning of May.
With the likes of Stephan Lichtsteiner and Bernd Leno already secured, new Arsenal manager Unai Emery is still keen on adding more quality to his squad ahead of next season.
Reports for much of this summer have suggested that the Gunners have been working on a deal to sign Sokratis Papastathopoulos from Borussia Dortmund.
The 29-year-old, who has been pocketing £90,000-a-week wages in Germany, is seen as a potential replacement for Laurent Koscielny, who struggled with injuries once again during last season.
According to Sky Sports, Sokratis Papastathopoulos is even closer to a move to the Emirates stadium than ever, following a confirmation from Dortmund about the transfer deal with Arsenal.
