David Ornstein reveals Arteta has changed transfer decision about 24-year-old Arsenal star
Reliable journalist David Ornstein has revealed Mikel Arteta has changed his mind about one of the Gunners squad players who was destined for an exit this summer.
With the likes of William Saliba and Gabriel now in the squad, the Gunners have more options at centre-back than they ever did.
The arrival of the two defenders saw Rob Holding linked with an exit as Newcastle maintained an interest in signing him on a loan deal.
However, journalist David Ornstein is now claiming that the 24-year-old’s exit is set to be called off as Mikel Arteta looks to keep him at the club for the upcoming season.
Irrespective of David Luiz injury Mikel Arteta has made clear he wants Rob Holding as a centre-back option this season & the 24yo is now expected to stay at Arsenal rather than join Newcastle on loan. THE BOTTOM LINE
Rob Holding was actually in pretty solid form right before his knee injury during the first half of the 2018/19 seaosn which kept him out for so long.
He has not necessarily gotten the opportunity to maintain a consistent run in the team ever since his return and they same could be saif for Calum Chambers whenever he makes his return.
Nonetheless, with Holding still being only 24 years old, he something to offer and the best thing would be to give him one more season at least.
However, he has to remain injury free this time and actually prove himself because the clock is starting to tick on his Arsenal career. That is even more so when you consider the arrivals of Saliba and Gabriel.
