Arsene Wenger has been handed some better news on the future of one his key players in the current squad.
The Arsenal manager will be charged with the task of persuading star midfielder Mesut Ozil to remain at the club after this season is over.
With only a year left on the German international’s contract at the Emirates stadium, various rumours have linked him with a departure.
However, the 28-year-old, who cost Arsenal $51.9 million in his move from Real Madrid, has revealed that talks over his new deal will happen this summer.
“It makes me happy that the fans support me, that my team-mates and the club support me,” Ozil said
“But football is my priority and we have aims with the team to reach the Champions League. In the summer there’s enough time to talk about other things.
“I’m very happy. I have a connection with the club. I love London, it’s great to live here but I can’t say today what will happen in the future. In the summer we’ll definitely talk”
