Defender reacts after signing new contract with Arsenal
After failing do much business during the January transfer window, the Gunners have now been working on internal deals ahead of the summer.
Arsenal were struggling in the Premier League ahead of the transfer window last month, as the 5-1 thrashing at Liverpool saw many fans call for new defenders to be signed in the winter window.
As it turned out, the club refused to listen to the cries of fans as no defenders were signed with Denis Suarez being the only new addition, joining on loan.
On Tuesday, the Gunners confirmed that Zech Medley, who has featured for the first team in the Europa League, has been handed a new contract.
The young centre-back has been tipped by many to play more for the first team after his impressive displays at youth level.
And after agreeing to sign his new contract on Tuesday, Medley expressed his excitement about extending his future at the club.
“It feels really good. I’m very pleased and honoured to be signing another contract with this club. I’ve been supporting them since I was a kid and I’ve been watching them since I was young, so to be able to sign with such an amazing team is really good.” the defender said
“Since last year a lot of stuff has happened quite quickly in a short space of time, but I’ve just had to keep my head down and progress. Hopefully I can achieve more.”
