‘Our best player today’, ‘Brilliant’: Some fans praise Arsenal star after 1-0 win
Several Arsenal supporters took to Twitter to applaud the display of one of the defenders who featured in the win over Olympiacos in the Europa League on Thursday night.
The Gunners were in Greece on Thursday for the first leg of their round of 32 tie against Olympiacos in the Europa League.
After the thrashing of Newcastle United at the Emirates stadium on Sunday, Arsenal were definitely not short of confidence for the knock-out fixture in Europe.
Mikel Arteta kept Shkodran Mustafi in his starting eleven after the defender’s solid display against the Magpies over the weekend.
The 27-year-old has certainly faced critics this season and after his recent blunder in the 2-2 draw against Chelsea, there seemed to be no way back for the centre-back.
However, Mustafi has definitely improved his performances and on Thursday, he produced another fine show as the Gunners secured a narrow 1-0 win on the road against Olympiacos to take control of the tie, heading into the second leg.
Mustafi was our best player today. What a performance from a man most of you were bashing weeks ago.

Mustafi has been solid in defense and also his positivity in passing is bearing fruit now. The goal last night came from a move started by mustafi finding Auba with a tough long diagonal. #afc #uel #arsenal #OLYARS

Mustafi’s transformation from a man who was maligned under Emery to a man who has been excellent and reliable under Arteta has been nothing short of beautiful.

Another solid Mustafi display. He's playing with real confidence. Previously in the season, he kept dropping deeper. Now he is showing belief in his ability to step up and intercept. Great diagonal to Aubameyang too. My man of the match.
