Key Arsenal star breaks silence after isolation of players
Arsenal star Mesut Ozil has sent out a message in reaction to the club’s decision to call for all players to remain isolated after the news of Mikel Arteta’s positive test for coronavirus.
After beating West Ham 1-0 – courtesy of a late strike from Alexandre Lacazette – last Saturday, the Gunners were expected to resume action in the Premier League by facing Manchester City on Wednesday night.
However, the news that the owner of Olympiacos – who recently faced Arsenal in the Europa League – had been diagnosed with coronavirus saw the club postpone the trip to City as a precaution.
Matters got worse on Thursday, as Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta was confirmed to have tested positive for the virus which is now troubling the entire world after originating from China.
Following the suspension of all elite football activities across Europe, Mesut Ozil has taken to social media to speak on the current situation, stating that there are more important things than the sport the moment.
Football does not matter right now. The health and wellbeing of everyone is far more important than everything else. Guys, take all the precautions you can – be mindful and considerate of everyone, especially those who are at high risk. 🙏🏼 #M1Ö (1/2)
