Arsene Wenger appears to have edged closer to securing the signature of his main transfer target according to emerging reports.

The Arsenal manager is preparing his side for this weekend’s clash with Chelsea at Wembley in the Community Shield after an erratic preseason.

Wenger’s summer has been dominated by rumours of a move for Thomas Lemar and the transfer deal is gradually looking likely to happen.

Reports are now claiming that the 21-year-old star is very much interested in joining Arsenal before the transfer window closes.

Lemar, who is reportedly valued at €88.6 million (£80 million), has been the subject of three transfer offers from Arsenal which have been turned down by AS Monaco.

However, the attacking midfielder is believed to be seeking a move to the Emirates stadium which would see him link up with several teammates from the French national team.

In addition to that, Monaco are also in talks to sign Rachid Ghezzal who could fill the void left by Lemar.
