The German youngster joined the Gunners on Tuesday as Wenger’s biggest and only buy of the January transfer window, but at 19 years of age and with little experience under his belt, many have wondered how the midfielder will be used by the Arsenal boss.

Eisfeld, who never played in a competitive match for the Dortmund first team, claims his new manager has made it clear that first team action will come, but only his ability as a player will determine how far he goes with his new club.

“Arsene Wenger said to me that I will get the chance to train with the first team and the rest is up to me if I play or do not play”. Eisfeld said.

This season, Eisfeld made 12 appearances for the Borussia Dortmund under-19 side and scored six goals along with six assists.

Those are efficient numbers for a man who is labelled as an attacking midfielder, and the 19-year-old claims his style of play is more about creating chances and unlocking defences rather than scoring goals.

“I first played for the under-13’s for Dortmund and then at the under-15 and under-16 level for the German national team” Eisfeld said

“Yes, I think so (that I am an attacking midfielder), but goals are not so important to me because my dad told me assists are more important than goals”. he said.
